Prague for Kids ... and their (Grand)Parents

May 17 to 20, 2012

Travels with children, with teens are a unique experience - they look at things so diffently, so un-biased compared to us adults, open for new things, seeing things we not not perceive, being enthusiatic. Our program “Cities for Kids ... and their (Grand)Parents” is based on the experience of our own children and their cousins with their Grandparents - each of the kids had a choice of a European Capital City with their Grandparents completely for themselves. And all of them (9!+2) experienced a great time - and these travels are still a great topic whenever the larger family meets.
Prague is an outstanding example of such travel, a city especially suited for this sort of experience: Think of the old Charles Bridge with its sculptures, some refering to deeds which really happened there (like the drowning of St. John Nepomuk). Or of Prague Castle, the place of the defenestration, when the Emperor’s representatives where thrown out of the window - they survived, but a cruel war of thirty years was the result. The statue of Jan Hus, an early protestant reformer, stands on the old Market Square - he was burnt at the Concile of Constance. Alchemy was practiced in the Gold Maker’s Lane on the Hradschin. The old Jewish Cemetery has a very special atmosphere, especially at night - when also the Golem is said to walk the streets, a man-alike creature made by famous Rabbi Loew to protect the Jews of the City. And there is more to be discovered in the vicinity of Prague: Karlstejn Castle almost as famous as King Ludwig’s, but original Middle Age. Or explore the old silver mines at Kutna Hora almost the way the old miners did.
The program is partially split: giving both generations a chance to appreciate Prague their way. And then getting together again, to talk about what everybody has seen and experienced, and to gather new ower for the next discoveries.
The details of the program are still work in progress. If you are interested, please contact us.
