Norwegian Christmas
Dec 23rd to 27th, 2011
Experience the magic of Christmas in Geilo, a village at the foot of the mighty Hallingskarvet mountain range, and gateway to northern Europe’s largest mountain plateau- Hardangervidda.
After a typical Norwegian Christmas service, take a horse drawn sleigh back to the hotel and enjoy a festive meal followed by the Norwegian tradition of holding hands around the Christmas tree and singing classic carols while circling the tree.
Led by Alaskan Huskies, glide through the winter wilderness where the only sounds are the panting of the dogs and the sled swishing through the snow. Warm and snug under a fur blanket, enjoy a ride on a horse drawn sleigh while listening to the ringing snow bells and the thudding of hooves against the snow under an almost magical starry sky.
After an adventurous day of skiing or snow shoe hiking in Norway’s splendid winter landscape, pamper yourself in the excellent wellness facilities at the historic Dr Holmes Hotel. Relax and recharge your batteries, read the book you always wanted to pick up and continue writing that journal where you left off years ago….or just lay back and enjoy the ambience of Norway’s breathtaking winter landscape.
